The Labkotec OMS-1 is an alarm device for monitoring the thickness of the oil layer that accumulates in an oil separator. The system consists of a control unit, a sensor and a cable junction box.
The OMS sensor is installed in the well and gives an alarm when the oil layer in the room reaches a predetermined level. The sensor is normally submerged in water.
The operation is based on the measurement of the electrical conductivity of the surrounding liquid. (water conducts electricity better than oil)
The oil separator is seen as a potentially explosive (Ex) zone. The OMS-1 sensor can be installed in a potentially explosive area of zone 0,1 or 2, but the control unit must be mounted in a safe area.
The control unit is equipped with LED indicators for power, alarm or malfunction (defective sensor or cable)
